Chris is thrilled to be joined by his dear friend and phenomenally talented pianist, Javier Santiago, for a night of duets. They will be performing new original compositions by Chris as well as a few numbers from the jazz songbook.

Javi and Chris have been playing together since high school, and we are very excited for the chance to channel some musical kinship in this pared down duo setting.

Tuesday Big Band | 8:30 – 10:30pm

BILL SIMENSON ORCHESTRA

The Bill Simenson Orchestra is a 17 piece big band (5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, guitar, piano, bass, and drums).  The orchestra is available for concert and club performance as well as artistic and educational collaborations.

Established in the fall of 2011, while students at the University of Northern Iowa, Commons Collective came together in a school ensemble coached by jazz educator Dr. Bob Washut, and quickly went on to become “one of the most popular young, professional jazz groups in Eastern Iowa” (The Gazette). Their performances feature an eclectic combination of original compositions, contributed by all group members, drawing upon influences from blues to rock, classical to pop music, yet firmly rooted in improvisation and the jazz tradition.

Vocalist Sarah M. Greer (www.sarahmgreer.com) is known for her scat singing and improvising. She is one the creators and performers of the Singers’ Scat-Off events at the 2016 and 2017 jazzfests and, recently she was the vocalist or Davu Seru’s blues for chamber ensemble, “Dead King Mother.”Sarah is at work on an album of original jazz music due out this summer.
