$10 admission at the door. $5 with valid student ID. Doors open 15 minutes before music starts.

Composer/Multi-instrumentalist Aaron Hedenstrom presents a set of all original compositions with his Aaron Hedenstrom Orchestra. Featuring top players in the Twin Cities scene, the AHO is a 17-piece big band that plays an array of modern jazz compositions which are strongly informed by the wide spectrum of contemporary styles.

Aaron’s collaborations as a writer have spanned across styles from indie artist S. Carey (of Bon Iver) to eclectic groups like The New Standards, to acclaimed jazz artists such as vibraphonist Stefon Harris, saxophonist Grace Kelly (of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert), and saxophonist Bob Reynolds (of John Mayer’s band). Aaron’s musical style has been developed with top-flight composers including Rich DeRosa, Steve Wiest, David Berger, and Ethan Wickman. Aaron has won numerous awards for his compositions and arrangements, including the Detroit Jazz Festival Arranging Contest, the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards, the BMI Foundation Future Jazz Master Scholarship, the Jazz Education Network Composition Awards. In addition, he co-hosts “The Arrangers Podcast” with Drew Zaremba.
