BOWDOG. A Jazz band led by a bassist Bob Bowman from Kansas City, Missouri plays a wide range of music from Jazz classics to free jazz to Bluegrass influenced songs.
Bob Bowman has performed with numbers of artists including Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Frank Mantooth, Carmen McRae, Freddie Hubbard, Bud Shank, Karrin Allyson, Dan Haerle, Steve Houghton, Steve Allee. Bob has toured around the world and been on many recordings that have won or been nominated for GRAMMY awards. While performing with these artists, he works with his own bands including the legendary Kansas City group, INTERSTRING and has also dedicated himself to jazz education. Bob now resides in Montana continuing to play and influence the music scene.
The members of the band Bob calls “heavy hitters” also work with wide range of artists and are busy performing locally and internationally.
Trumpeter, Hermon Mehari, has won many jazz competitions and performed in several jazz festivals as a headliner. His recent album “Bleu” which includes Aaron Parks on piano, Logan Richardson on alto saxophone, Ryan J. Lee on drums and Rick Rosato on bass, and Peter Schlamb who is also in Bowdog on vibraphone became number 1 on iTunes Jazz Charts.
Vibraphonist, Peter Schlamb, maintains a busy schedule performing from his base in Kansas City, Missouri to overseas as a leader and a sideman. He spent several years in New York where he studied and worked. During his time in New York, he recorded and performed with artists including David Binney, Mike Moreno, and Ben van Gelder.
Drummer and vibraphonist as well, Kizilarmut, has performed with variety of artists including Aretha Franklin, Doc Severinsen, Matt Wilson, Jimmy Heath, Branford Marsalis, Logan Richardson, Clark Terry, New York Voices, the Des Moines Symphony, etc. He is a frequent guest performer and clinician at percussion and jazz festivals throughout the midwest.
