Dan Williams grew up in a family of singers in St. Paul. He started playing piano in high school through Walker West Music and was quickly bitten by the Brazilian bug. For the past couple of decades he’s delved deep into Brazilian music, playing piano, guitar, and singing bossa nova, Brazilian Pop (MPB) and some of lesser-known tunes of the post-bossa era by composers and singers such as Ivan Lins, Marcos Valle, Djavan, Elis Regina and others. Since 2014, Dan has led the group Bossa Soul, a 5-piece group playing jazz-influenced Brazilian Pop and jazz standards. He also plays and sits in with other local Brazilian bands in town.
Joining him tonight will be some of the finest players of Latin music in the Twin Cities: Andrew Gillespie on drums; John Croarkin on flute/sax; and David Martin on bass.
