Brian Handeland is a saxophonist/woodwind doubler and a native of Minneapolis. Brian studied saxophone and jazz at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of North Texas, where he played/recorded with a number of ensembles including the UW-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble 1, the UNT Latin Jazz Ensemble, and the prestigious UNT 1 O’Clock Lab Band. After UNT, Brian was employed as a touring pit orchestra musician, where he played flute/clarinet/various saxophones on the International tour of Shrek The Musical, as well as on North American tours of the musicals Elf and Flashdance. Brian also recently completed his first Holiday Tour with pianist Lorie Line and her Pop Chamber Orchestra. Brian is currently working as a freelance musician and woodwind instructor in the Twin Cities, and can be seen performing with the bands Machinery Hill and the Twin Cities Latin Jazz Orchestra, as well as with other jazz/blues/rock groups around the Twin Cities area.
Will be playing lesser known standards and some non-standard tunes by composers such as Thad Jones, Dexter Gordon, John Scofield, and more.
