Keith Yanes is an upright bass player based in the Twin Cities. Born into a musical family, Yanes has been surrounded by music his entire life and started playing at a very early age. He has studied on many different instruments over the course of his life but felt a special connection to the bass guitar and, soon after, the upright bass. He earned his jazz performance degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth under the guidance of pianist and department head Ryan Frane and has been a top-call bassist for several working groups. He remains busy playing many genres of music such as jazz, bluegrass, Latin/world music, Americana and pop. You can find him playing regularly with such groups as “Very Trio”, “Tacky Annie”, “Barley Jacks”, “Davina and the Vagabonds”, “Axis Mundi” as well as many different outfits of jazz collaborations offered around the Twin Cities.
