As a native of the Twin Cities, pianist Patrick Adkins has had a rich musical upbringing that influences and informs his ever-evolving musical palette, which has been helped along by his studies with teachers such as Bill Carrothers and Bryan Nichols. Patrick has a diverse array of performance experience, with his primary performance and composition outlet around town being the vibes-piano jazz quartet Sound Skirmish. He has also recently appeared around town with SPACE, Will Schmid Quartet, and more.
Benjamin Beyene is an exceptionally good drummer. A native of Minneapolis, he has played with top Twin Cities musicians. Those lucky enough to have played alongside his rhythmic time – (i.e) Peter Goggin, Will Kjeer, Levi Schwartzberg – can attest: Benjamin Beyene is a natural-born artist. As one Twin Cities bass legend memorably put it, while describing his first impression of Beyene’s drumming: “He was so relaxed, he coulda made a ham sandwich.”
Samuel Worthington is a double bass player who grew up appreciating the Twin Cities jazz scene. He spent his formative years studying with Adam Linz. He then spent two years studying with Michael Formanek at the Peabody Conservatory. Worthington has since returned to the Twin Cities, taking up Literary Studies at the University of Minnesota, and playing actively in the local scene, most notably, in a new quartet alongside Phil Hey, Peter Goggin, and Jordan Anderson.
