Swing Sisterhood Big Band
May 30 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm
$10 admission. $5 with student ID.
Founded in October 2015, the Swing Sisterhood Big Band is an all-female jazz big band of musicians active in the Twin Cities. Director and hornist Sarah Schmalenberger formed the band to strengthen the network of female jazz musicians in the area.
The roster of musicians in Swing Sisterhood includes women with well-established careers as performers, such as drummer Jendeen Forberg and bassist/guitarist Joan Griffith. Several of the musicians are seasoned freelancers and music educators, and selected college students also play in the band.
