Tuesday Big Band | 8:30 – 10:30pm

CEDAR AVENUE BIG BAND

$10 admission. $5 with a Student ID

One of the Twin Cities’ longest running Big Bands, the Cedar Avenue Big Band has compiled a book of over 400 musical arrangements by renowned composers such as Bill Holman, Thad Jones and Sammy Nestico. The band also features the music of resident composers including Dean Sorensen, John Ahern and founder of the group, composer/arranger/trombonist Steve Devich. Hearing this music performed live is an essential experience for any music enthusiast.

NATHAN HANSON’S FIVE TIMES GOLDEN

Composer and saxophonist Nathan Hanson has performed in venues from concert halls to prisons, churches to train stations, debutante balls to Soviet fallout shelters in places ranging from St. Paul to Slovenia; Paris to Pittsburgh; Milano to Milwaukee; and Rome (both Italy and Georgia).

ZUCCHINI FISH

Zucchini Fish consists of University of Minnesota students Tarek Abdelqader (drums), Nick Benish (bass), and Andrew Tomten (saxophone) with the help of various chordal friends now and then. In this case, Frank Merchlewitz on piano. With free and funk influences Zucchini Fish thrives in the strange fresh waters of contemporary jazz.
