Alex SK Quartet

Alex Schmidt-Karye is a Minneapolis-based composer and

trombonist presenting a performance of original music at Jazz Central Studios

on May 25th, 2024. Alex obtained their Bachelor’s of Music in Trombone

Performance from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in 2019, and has

been actively performing in the Twin Cities metro since. Alex has performed

alongside Grammy Award winner Jamecia Bennett, as well as a part of local

groups including the Twin Cities Latin Jazz Orchestra, the Genesis Jazz

Orchestra, the Century Jazz Ensemble, and their own funk band InaFunk. Alex

strongly believes in music’s ability to unite community, and champions equity

and collaboration through their music.
