Latin Soultet

You may know drummer Mac Santiago if you have been involved in the music scene around the Twin Cities at some point over the last 40 years or so. Though it may sound like an oxymoron, versatility is his strong point. 

Of the many hats he wears, the one of the percussionist/conguero has been a part of his lexicon since he was a small child when his mother would yell at him lovingly at the dinner table “STOP BANGING ON STUFF!”

LATIN SOULTET is his recent venture into the known unknown. He has designed himself a hands and feet kit that includes 3 congas, bongos, timbal, foot bell(cajate), cajon and guiro.

Along with Sophia Kaufmann (bass), Joe Strachan ( piano) and Levi Schwartzberg (vibes) they will be exploring the intersection of jazz, latin and R&B ( AKA Boogaloo).
