Leigh Kamman Emerging Masters Night: Bok Choy

Headed by three college musicians, Bok Choy is a project of passion and knowledge that Thomas, Aiden, and Jonah continue to acquire in their studies. The band started out playing small family shows at local parties, now drawing impressive crowds to restaurants, breweries, and other large outdoor shows.

Bok Choy has had many forms dating all the way back to middle school when Thomas and Aiden met, playing their first gig in 7th grade. Starting as a guitar/drum duo, the band has added many members through the years. As time has gone on, the music of Bok Choy has gone from country/rock to pop, and now has a main focus in jazz fusion and funk, drawing inspiration from artists such as Snarky Puppy, The Fearless Flyers, Ghost Note, and many others.

The live music audience experience is one of Bok Choy's top priorities. With each member constantly working on their communication and improvisational skills, the band's set will never be played the same twice keeping the audience engaged and curious as to what is next. Another notable detail of a Bok Choy show is the constant interaction with our audience making them feel involved and appreciated. Along with live performances, Bok Choy is currently writing, recording, and producing their own music independently.
