Nancy Bierma: the Music of Keith Jarrett

Nancy grew up on a farm in Iowa and began playing piano at age 3. She graduated with a degree in classical music but realized jazz was her passion. Nancy met her husband Jim in 1976 while she was learning to play jazz. Nancy and Jim are both inductees to the Iowa Jazz Hall of Fame. Described as a modern or post Coltrane pianist Nancy believes that a room filled with music provides healing and uplifts the soul. “I love the creativity of the melodies and the textures of jazz.” She will be performing music inspired by Keith Jarrett with her husband and favorite upright bassist Jim Bierma.
